All For You Healthcare Occupational Therapy

How Can Occupational Therapy Support You?

Life is made up of everyday moments — getting ready in the morning, going to school or work, preparing a meal, moving safely around your home, connecting with others and doing the things you enjoy. Sometimes, disability, developmental differences, injury, illness or changes with age can make these everyday moments more challenging.

That’s where Occupational Therapy can help.

For a child, OT might begin through play — learning to regulate emotions and sensory needs, developing fine and gross motor skills, building confidence with dressing, eating, toileting or participating at school.

As children grow into teenagers and adults, their goals change. OT can support daily routines, social participation, life skills, emotional regulation, study, work and greater independence at home and in the community.

For adults living with disability or health conditions, we look at the bigger picture. We can assess daily living skills, functional capacity, mobility, safety and the home environment, then work together to develop practical strategies. This may include ongoing therapy, assistive technology, equipment, home modifications, capacity building, or assessments for accommodation and support needs.

And as we grow older, OT can help us hold on to the things that matter — staying safe at home, maintaining independence, reducing falls risk, adapting everyday activities and finding the right equipment or environmental changes to make daily life easier.

Every person’s story is different, so OT is never simply about completing an assessment. We start by listening to your story, understanding what matters to you, identifying what is getting in the way, and finding practical ways forward together.

From a child learning a new skill to an older person wanting to remain safely at home, our goal remains the same:

Helping you do more of what matters to you — with greater confidence, independence and dignity.

Combining science with creativity to help people grow, participate and live more independently.

What Makes Our Occupational Therapy Different?

Our OT approach combines neuroscience, medical knowledge and Occupational Therapy practice to understand how the brain, body, environment and everyday activities work together.

  • Neuroscience-Informed – understanding how the brain influences movement, sensory processing, attention, behaviour and learning.
  • Medical Knowledge + OT Expertise – looking beyond the diagnosis to understand the whole person and their functional needs.
  • Creative & Engaging Therapy – using play, movement, sensory activities and meaningful everyday tasks to make therapy practical and motivating.
  • Independence at Every Life Stage – helping children develop essential skills while supporting adults and older people to build or maintain independence.
  • Real-Life Solutions – turning clinical knowledge into practical strategies, skill building, equipment and environmental changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at 02 7820 5158 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Getting started is easy. Contact us or complete our referral form, and our friendly team will get in touch to learn more about you, your goals and the support you’re looking for.

We’ll help match you with the right clinician, discuss your preferred appointment location and arrange your first appointment. Where applicable, we’ll also organise a service agreement and consent form so you understand the services, fees and arrangements before getting started.

Whether you’re an NDIS participant, aged care client or private client, we’re here to make the process simple and welcoming from the very beginning.

Occupational Therapy can support people with a wide range of conditions and support needs, including but not limited to stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, mental health conditions and chronic pain.

Our Occupational Therapists can also support you with:

  • Ongoing OT intervention and capacity building to develop or maintain everyday skills and independence
  • Functional Capacity Assessments, reviews and reports
  • SIL, SDA and other Home and Living assessments and reports
  • Home modification assessments and recommendations
  • Assistive technology and equipment assessment, prescription and supporting reports
  • NDIS funding applications and supporting evidence
  • Plan review and progress reports to demonstrate current needs, outcomes and recommendations for ongoing supports

Our approach is person-centred and practical, focusing on helping you participate in everyday life with greater independence, safety, confidence and choice.

During your first occupational therapy session, you can expect to undergo an evaluation that includes an assessment of your abilities and limitations. Your therapist will work with you to identify your goals and develop a personalized treatment plan based on your needs and preferences.

An initial assessment usually takes 1–2 hours, depending on your needs and the type of assessment required. Your therapist will take time to understand your goals, daily activities, strengths and support needs before discussing the next steps with you.

More comprehensive assessments, such as a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) or functional capacity review, may take longer and may require multiple sessions, information gathering from your support team, clinical assessment and report preparation. Your therapist will discuss the expected timeframe with you before commencing.

An ongoing therapy session is usually 60 minutes, including approximately 45–50 minutes of direct therapy and 10–15 minutes for clinical documentation and progress notes.

Session length and structure may vary depending on individual needs, goals and circumstances.

The NDIS supports eligible people with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities. Generally, you must be under 65 years of age when you apply and live in Australia. You must also be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa. In addition, you need to meet the NDIS disability requirements or early intervention requirements. Eligibility is assessed based on your individual circumstances and how your disability affects your everyday life, rather than diagnosis alone.

As a registered NDIS provider, we can support participants with all three main funding management types:

  • NDIA-managed (Agency-managed) – participants can access services from registered NDIS providers.
  • Plan-managed – the participant’s plan manager manages payments and invoices.
  • Self-managed – the participant or their nominee manages payments directly.

Participants may also have a combination of these funding management types within their plan.

We welcome NDIA-managed, Plan-managed and Self-managed NDIS participants. Our friendly team can help you understand the referral and service commencement process.

A registered NDIS provider has gone through the NDIS registration process and meets specific quality, safety and service standards. Registered providers can support NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed participants, depending on the services they are registered to provide.

A non-registered provider can generally support self-managed and plan-managed participants, but usually cannot provide services using NDIA-managed funding.

At All For You Healthcare, we are a registered NDIS provider, so we can welcome participants with different funding management arrangements and make accessing support as simple as possible.

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide us with at least 48 hours’ notice.

Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may incur a 100% cancellation fee. For scheduled mobile appointments, applicable travel fees may also be charged where the clinician has already travelled or travel costs have been incurred.

Cancellation and travel charges will be applied in accordance with your service agreement and applicable funding arrangements.

Please contact our friendly team as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment.

Yes. Our Occupational Therapists provide comprehensive SIL, SDA and accommodation-related assessments to understand your daily living needs, functional capacity, safety and level of support required.
